The Lincoln Women’s Journey to Get Rid of 4 Stones and Recover Her Happiness and Enthusiasm

A woman from Lincoln spoke of her trip where she lost 4 stones while dieting and exercising to regain her enthusiasm and happiness.

Rachel Templeman, 46, began her slimming journey four years ago after struggling to find a suitable dress for a close friend’s funeral.

The ordeal left her in tears and realizing it was time for a change, Rachel joined Slimming World with the goal of being down to a size 18.

Four years later Rachel lost a whopping four stone and went down to a size 6 or 8 and shared her experience in hopes it might inspire others.

The Bracebridge Heath resident said: “I joined Slimming World on January 14, 2017 and have been a member for four years.

“We all have our own reasons and stories to tell about why we’re taking these nervous first steps in a Slimming World band.

“For me, on January 2, 2017, a very dear friend of mine passed away, and I was adamant that I would wear a black dress for their funeral as they deserved nothing less.

“Well I spent a whole day shopping trying to find a dress and I was trying on size 18 dresses. I came home empty handed, unable to buy a dress because none would fit , I sat on my bed and cried well.

“I felt fat, ugly, unattractive and disgusted with myself for allowing myself to become this size, but more importantly, I felt like I had let my friend down.

“My husband told me he thought I was beautiful and attractive, but it didn’t matter to me because I didn’t feel him inside me.

“So I made the decision to join Slimming World and found a local band in the village where I live on a Saturday morning.

“I took those nervous first steps around the room and immediately felt welcome. I dreaded stepping on that scale, but it had to be done.”

Rachel’s starting weight was the 12th 12.5 lbs.

After familiarizing herself with a new diet, Rachel lost an impressive 7.5 pounds.

According to a Slimming World consultant, people who lose 5 pounds or more in their first week of participating in a weight loss group are four times more likely to lose 10 percent of their body weight in 3 months.

With her new diet, Rachel swapped snacks like chips, popcorn and chocolates, for fruit and veg sticks with hummus.

His dinners are now fully prepared from scratch, without the use of pot sauces.

After her first weight loss, Rachel added, “I returned home amazed, happy, thrilled and full of excitement for the weeks to come. I reached my goal in six months after losing 2 pounds. .

“I lived at this goal until September 2018, when I decided to lower my goal further.

“Over the next few years, I lowered my goal two more times and reached my final target weight in May 2020. In total, I lost 4 pounds.”

“I now run two to three times a week and have now completed four half marathons.

“Before joining Slimming World I didn’t really have any health issues, the only issue I had was that I was suffering from what I called Dancing Leg Syndrome.

“My knees at the end of the day would hurt so badly that I was taking pain relievers most nights and just didn’t know how to sit up.
make myself comfortable, which often causes me to lie down to lie down.

“Since the weight loss it has stopped.

A spokesperson for Slimming World said, “To lose weight, we need to consume fewer calories than we use. This creates an energy deficit and the body then begins to use its energy reserves, which are stored as body fat.

“At Slimming World, we want to help people lose weight and maintain that weight loss for the long term – and that means providing a plan that is easy to follow and enjoyable, and sustainable over the long term.”
