LIVE: Austin Public Health Hosts Latest Q&A on COVID-19
AUSTIN (KXAN) – More than a year after identifying the first case of COVID-19, top Austin Public Health executives will hold their latest update Friday morning on the impact of the virus and the ongoing vaccination process .
The agency’s latest virtual briefing will include opening remarks from Dr Desmar Walkes, who is now the Austin-Travis County health authority. She replaces Dr Mark Escott in this role after he became the city’s chief medical officer.
Remarks will also come from Austin’s Acting Director of Public Health Adrienne Sturrup, Chief Epidemiologist Janet Pichette and Chief Administrative Director of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Cassandra Deleon.
According to Austin Public Health’s own data, this agency and CommUnity Care have so far administered nearly 427,000 doses COVID-19 vaccine.
Agency management will likely discuss what their efforts will now include to get more residents vaccinated.
